(C)2012 Paul Hankins

Mandy Dias, Bruschi, and Tinkerbell

I have the chance to have my dogs down at Papa Bow Wow’s Play many times and I can’t thank Paul enough for helping me with my dogs. He is a wonderful trainer who is very caring and just wonderful with bully breeds. He takes the time to work with each dog and can help you cater your training techniques to each dog’s personality. When I am driving down to the daycare as soon as the dogs see the building they get so excited and can’t wait to get in there to play or train. Paul has an unbelievable way with dogs and I can see it when my dogs look at him, they just listen and behave so well. Paul has always taken the time to help with any questions or concerns I might have no matter how small or big, and is always available if we need him.
Thanks Paul for all you have done!

Higgins family and Mercer family...

We have known Paul Hankins for quite a few years - he is a certified trainer and has a wonderful way with animals. Our dogs, Spencer and Casey, attend day care at Papa Bow Wow's three days a week and absolutely love going! They are watched closely, activities and interactions between dogs are closely monitored for safety. Dogs are matched in groups by size and personality. We are lucky to have such a well qualified facility to send our animals to - providing the outside enviroment they need while many pet owners work and the socialization many dogs lack. Our dogs howl as they approach the building because they are so happy to see Uncle Paul and all of their doggy buddies!

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Hankins about a year ago threw my stepdaughter Mandy. In December of 2006 I adopted a puppy and along the way I got to know Paul better. Paul became my dog’s trainer. At first I didn’t think my dog needed this, but little did I know. Every Saturday morning beginning in the month of March my wife and I started going to dog training along with our dog Holly to learn the proper way of teaching her how to sit, stay, and how to walk on a leash. Paul has been a great trainer, he has great patience. He has also taught me that with the time and working with Holly she will be a great friend and pet. Paul has always told us his door is always open or only a phone call away. He would assist us in anyway he could. He has a lot of ideas; I had a problem with Holly going in the car because she would get sick, and Paul’s idea has been working one day at time. Without his knowledge and help I would be lost. Paul taught us everything from sitting to bathroom training. He takes his job very seriously and he is highly professional adjusting his training to each family and pet. He has been great to work with and has made owning Holly more enjoyable for my family and for her.

Thanks Paul!

Papa Bow-Wow's Daycare and Training School has been the most wonderful experience for my family. Having rescued a male beagle with some fear and aggression issues, our family was looking for a solution to some behavioral problems that had arisen upon his interaction with our children. Paul was so very patient with our dog and was more than willing to spend the time needed with the family to answer our many questions and hear our concerns. Paul is extremely dedicated to the well–being of animals as he made himself available by phone just in case a question or problem may arise while we are away from his facility. Paul is an extremely knowledgeable animal behaviorist and provided us with easy, hands-on suggestions which we were immediately able to implement. He assisted us with various techniques to help solve crate problems, barking, etc., with the use of verbal and non-verbal commands. It is also wonderful to know that he is linked to an all natural dog-food store run by the most friendly animal lover, Leigh; who is more than willing to spend time with you picking out the correct leash, doggie treat or toy! We thank Papa Bow-Wow's Daycare and Training School for helping us mold our Beagle into a true family pet who just wants to be loved. We will forever be grateful to our trainer, Paul....whom we believe is the “Dog Whisperer”!

We had two peke's and decided to bring another dog, Busta the Boston terrier into our home. Upon doing so the house was in a uproar and unfortunately one of them had to go; after weeks of separating them and fighting we couldn't all live together. I had looked into my options and was referred to Mr. Hank. We went for a 40 minute session with Mr. Hank being the alpha dog and we went home and walked into the door together. With his instruction I have learned to be the alpha mommy and keep control of the home. Things worked out so well that we just added a rescue dog to our home and our first visit was to Mr. Hank. He introduced them to each other, kept control of the situation with only his voice and again we walked into our home as a family. We couldn't have kept Busta without the help of Mr. Hank and we would NEVER have thought about getting another dog. With the last dog, Boots the Boston terrier I had made an appointment with Mr. Hank before even signing the adoption paperwork.

Testimonial on Doggy Day Care

Our Boston Terrier Busta is too hyper to play with his Peke brother and sister so we bring him to day care once a week to give him an outlet for some of his energy. He gets excited every week when I say "its time to go see Mr. Hank", jumping like crazy waiting to put his coat on, then sitting in the front seat of the car awaiting his arrival. I know when I pick him up at night the more dirt on the coat the more fun he had. And he confirms his fun by sleeping all that night and most of the next day. I have always seen positive reinforcement from Mr. Hank with the dogs; when you speak to him you will pick up on his love for dogs.

In October 2005, as part of my membership with Beagles of New England States (B.O.N.E.S.) I rescued a 1 ½ year old male beagle from Faxon Animal Rescue League. This poor beagle had been severely abused and had lived in 4 different homes during his short life. He was scared to death and had numerous issues one of which was separation anxiety. He was supposed to be placed in a foster home by B.O.N.E.S. the day after I signed him out of the shelter, but unfortunately the home that he was due to be placed in was unavailable due to an emergency.
Snoop Dog (formerly known as Bambino) stayed with us and was placed up for adoption with B.O.N.E.S. Snoopy grew on our hearts but the separation anxiety was a big issue. He wanted absolutely no part of being crated (tore up a $100 dog bed in about ½ hour), could not be trusted to be out of the crate while we were at work, and even with the companionship of our other beagle going in the same crate he still would not calm down. Our other Beagle “Angel” had kept my mom company during the day while we worked but 2 dogs roaming the house seemed a little much for her at her age (little did she know Snoopy would grow on her heart like he did ours – now she spoils him tremendously). After passing PaPa Bow Wow’s Playschool every day on my way to and from work I decided to call to beg for help – little did I know Paul Hankins would be the saving grace! Paul asked some questions about Snoopy and told me to bring him that afternoon along with my other beagle Angel. Angel was very anti-social with other dogs so I thought this would help her as well. Snoopy fit right in since he had spent so much time at the shelter, but Angel had a little issue in the beginning (like a kid on the first day of kindergarten) due to her being anti-social. In only a few short days there was such a tremendous difference in both dogs. Snoop’s anxiety issues were weakening and Angel was becoming the “social butterfly.” After just a week of daycare we decided to make Snoop Dog a permanent part of our family. Paul with his years of training rehabilitated both dogs and today they are extremely well behaved and absolutely love going to Papa Bow Wow’s Playschool. Snoopy even sits by the door in the morning waiting to leave. When I pick them up after work they are very excited to see me and tell me all about their day – I listen to stories all the way home. When they get home they are ready to settle in for the night. It’s a wonderful thing!
They absolutely loved it. I found a big difference in their overall health. We started spending more time in the store part of the playschool on a weekly basis and thanks to Leigh they are eating healthier and are the best dressed dogs at daycare.
I cannot thank Paul enough for his dedication, quality of care, and kindness that they provide to my “babies.” Without Paul’s training ability and in depth understanding of animals I do not know if I would have been able to keep Snoop Dog. Snoop and Angel bring so much joy to our home – I can’t imagine life without the two of them. Thank you Paul for your continued dedication to Angel and Snoop.
